In the early morning a dozen people in Clarenville called the RCMP about an object hovering over the water toward Random Island. Constable James Blackwood watched it for one to two hours through a surveillance telescope. He described an oval with a fin at the back, hanging about 100 ft above the water. When he flashed his headlights, the object seemed to flash back. It then vanished and left no trace.
